Governors of the northwest geopolitical zone of Nigeria have unanimously agreed to shut down schools and other public institutions as part of measures to curtail the spread of Coronavirus in the zone.
Chairman of the Northwest Governors’ Forum, Bello Masari, who stated this at the Northwest Security Council meeting in Kaduna, said the move is necessary because of the pandemic state of the disease.

The meeting attended by the seven governors of the northwest geopolitical zone was necessitated by the outbreak of the dreaded Coronavirus which has led to the shut down of many countries.
According to the forum, measures have been put in place to shut down schools across the region from next Monday in other to prevent the spread of the disease, stressing that it will engage relevant examination bodies in the country to adhere to its resolution.
The forum also resolved to provide more funding to tackle insecurity in the zone.
The governors also pledged to carry out massive sensitization campaign to create more awareness on the danger and prevention of Coronavirus in order to safeguard public health.
