A serving United States senator, Kamala Harris has been picked as running mate to Democratic Candidate and former Vice President, Joe Biden in November’s presidential election.
The fifty-five year old Harris was a candidate for the Democratic ticket but dropped out in the primaries.
She becomes the second Vice Presidential nominee after Sarah Palin ran alongside John McCain on the Republican Party ticket in the 2008 race won by Barrack Obama.

Harris whose mother is Indian, and has a Jamaican father, was the Attorney-General of California prior to winning a United States Senate seat in the 2016 elections.
