Medical workers in Bauchi State have been assured that the government will meet their requirements and needs at this time of the Coronavirus pandemic.
Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, gave the assurance when he received in audience, members of the Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors.
The Medical Doctors, who visited the Governor to discuss their poor working conditions, pleaded for urgent attention to alleviate their suffering.
Statistics from the Bauchi State Ministry of Health shows that the doctor/patient ratio is alarming and needs urgent government’s intervention.
Amidst the challenges, the state said that 500 doctors, who had bond agreement with the government, have deserted without serving the legal bond.

The National President, Nigeria Association of Resident Doctors, Aliyu Sokamba, decried the level of unemployment and the lack of life insurance for its members.
The Doctors called on governments at all levels to give priority attention to their welfare, especially at this time of the pandemic.
