The National Independent Electoral Commission, INEC, has warned Ondo residents that voters will not be allowed to exercise their franchise during the Governorship Election unless they use their facemasks.
This requirement is part of measures put in place by the electoral umpire to avoid the spread of Covid 19 disease during and after the October 10 election in Ondo state.
The INEC National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee, Festus Okoye, made this known in Akure at an online workshop organised for journalists in the state.
Okoye said the electoral body is also working with the Presidential Task Force on Covid-19 to make available infrared thermometers in all polling units during the elections.
He, however, restated that the use of branded nose masks would not be allowed during the election.
Okoye said over 17,000 ad hoc staff will be deployed for the Ondo State governorship election in October.
