Security operatives on Thursday embarked on a show of force on major streets of Akure, Ondo State capital, ahead of Saturday’s governorship election in the state.
The security agencies made up of men of the Nigerian police, Nigerian Army, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corp, NSCDC, Nigeria Immigration Service, and other paramilitary organizations, said the exercise is to alert residents of their readiness for a violence free election.
Speaking on behalf of all the security agencies, Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Tee Leo Ikoro, said men of the security agencies are well prepared to ensure a peaceful atmosphere in the state.
While calling on parents and guardians to warn their wards against thuggery, Ikoro said they are well prepared to mitigate any incidence of violence.
