Rivers State Sports Commissioner, Boma Iyaye has slammed the Minister of Sports, Sunday Dare over the backlash that greeted the postponement of the 20th National Sports Festival that was scheduled to hold in Benin City, Edo State.
Even though a new date has been announced, Iyaye berated the Sports Minister for not consulting widely well enough with the Presidency and Presidential Task Force on Covid-19 before the convergence on Benin city for the National Council on Sports meeting where a December date was fixed for the National Sports Festival.

He said the psyches of the athletes have been affected negatively by the back and forth shifting of dates for the festival,having dispersed team Rivers athletes from camp on Wednesday.
Boma Iyaye expressed hope that the new date backed by the Presidential Task Force on Covid 19 will be feasible.
