The Senate wants President Muhammadu Buhari to direct the National Security Adviser, NSA, the newly nominated Service Chiefs, and the Inspection General of Police to rejig the country’s security architecture.
The Senate also enjoined state governors to reinvigorate rural governance (local government system), and the Federal Government to check the proliferation of firearms.
This was as the upper legislative chamber urged State Government to implement the National Livestock Transformation Plan to prevent the constant friction between herdsmen and farmers in the country. These formed resolutions reached by the Senate when it debated a motion on the growing insecurity in Nigeria.

The motion moved by Senator Ajayi Boroffice attracted emotional contributions from several senators with suggestions ranging from the creation of state police and ban on movement of cattle
