No case of Lassa Fever has so far been reported in Zamfara State, North-West Nigeria.
State Commissioner for Health, Yahaya Kanoma says, the 2 suspected cases have turned out negative, after laboratory tests.
He says measures are being put in place by the State Government, to prevent the outbreak of the disease in the State.

These include, the provision of vaccines, hand sanitizers, sensitisation and the establishment of centres which people could report suspected cases, for prompt attention.
He emphasises the need for the people to imbibe the culture of keeping their environment clean and maintain personal hygiene, in order to prevent diseases.
The Commissioner enjoins residents of the State to remain calm, as there are no cases of the epidemic in the State yet, while the government is working assiduously to forestall any outbreak.
He calls on traditional rulers and religious leaders to help sensitize the people, on the need to take preventive measures.
