Ambassordor Akawor who polled 2,908 votes as the party’s state congress held in Port Harcourt replaces Felix Obua who will be bowing out in may this year after serving out the mandatory 2 terms in office.

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike led other delegates of the party to cast their votes during the elective congress in Port Harcourt. A total of 3,534 delegates from all the 319 electoral wards of the state were accredited for the exercise that was supervised by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

Saturday’s exercise gave birth to a new 39-member executive that will pilot the affairs of the party.

Welcoming the new executive members, Governor Nyesom Wike was quick to remind them of the big shoes they have to fill after the Obua-led executive eventually leaves office.

The governor also took time out to thank the outgoing executive for their loyalty and commitment to the unity and development of the state saying if the party constitution allowed a third term he would have endorsed Felix Obua to continue as the state party chairman.
